I ran into Dominique and her kids when I took my own kids out to Libbey Park for little playground play, however, Grace quickly enlisted Caleb to play with her in the fountain. Meanwhile, I photographed Dominique and her newborn in an impromptu portrait session.

Each summer, every Wednesday for 6 weeks, the Ojai Band performs an evening of music in Libbey Park free of charge for everyone to enjoy. It’s a wonderful opportunity to bring the family out, buy balloons and old fashioned popcorn for the kids. Half-way through the performance, all of the kids get to go on a balloon parade around the park.
Although we moved to Ojai over 3 years ago, this was the first year we checked out the Ojai Lavender Festival. In the summer, there always seem to be a major event every weekend. The theme of the festival is of course “Lavender” but how that is manifested is left entirely up to the vendors. I ran into Kathy, the owner of the Lavender Inn, where I’ll be shooting a wedding later this year. The kids really enjoyed the live music but had a hard time with the taffy candy.
