Best of 2009 Wedding Photography: Sneak Peek

January is a great time to update various aspects of my business as well as tie any loose ends from last year.  Many of my friends and colleagues love doing a “Best of” series of posts so I thought I would do so as well.  Little did I know that it wouldn’t be easy to choose the best of my favorites.  However, as I was going through my 2009 weddings, I noticed something in an image I hadn’t seen before.  There was a shot in the recent Rangefinder Magazine that helped me to see the potential in this shot.  Enjoy and the full post of my “Best of 2009″ coming soon.

Jen Disney - Beautiful shot!

Admired By Beckstead Photo Contest | First Place

I haven’t had time to focus on photo contests that much, but after Lorena’s wedding, there was one shot that I just absolutely loved and thought it might do well.  So, I entered it in David Beckstead’s bi-monthly photo contest and it ended up winning First Place!  David is an amazing, internationally renowned wedding photographer so I was deeply humbled that he recognized my photo.

Los Angeles Wedding Photography: Lorena + Josh | Green Mountain Ranch

Green Mountain Ranch provided the perfect backdrop for Lorena and Josh’s wedding.  When I saw the bridemaids’ dresses, I knew it was going to be fun and memorable wedding.  Of course, there were the typical little stresses, but everyone pulled through in the end.  The whole day was especially meaningful because Lorena’s dad had passed away last year.  It was very moving to see Lorena with her mom and how she welcomed Josh into the family.

While the wedding party waited for the limo to arrive, I wanted to capture some more dramatic night photography with Lorena and Josh.
